My Tour died yesterday and was completely unrecoverable. I upgraded to the newest version of the Bolt browser and let the phone reboot.  Unfortunately, it never got past the blank screen before powering back up.  I just got a flashing red light regardless of the number of battery pulls.  My computer doesn't even recognize the phone as being connected to the usb port so I can't even go for another OS wipe and then restore my last backup file.  Now I have to wait until Wednesday to get the replacement refurb from FedEx and I know I won't be home from work in time to sign for it so I will have to wait until after 6 to pick it up from the local FedEx office.

Unfortunately, if the computer doesn't recognize that your BB is connected to the USB port, all the work-arounds in the world won't do any good. I can't get the apploader to see that there is a phone connected so I can't reload the OS no matter what path I take to get there.  Thanks for trying though Ryu.

This is a case where the boot rom has become corrupted and you would have no choice but to do a complete wipe of the phone with J_Cmdr or BBSAK. J_Cmdr will sometimes recognize the phone when the app loader wont. Sometimes you can recover them sometimes you can't. Best of lick with the new phone.
