the best place to by any Blackberry part is this site!
http://cnn.cn/shop/index.php

they got more then any other site i seen better prices and fast shipping

About open up your Blackberry tour its very simple only thing you need is a small torks scruvedriver (T6). only part that feldt a little risky was when i took the plastic part were the speaker is but it came together good.. i had about 5 diffrent BB's models apart before and this one i think was the best one from the inside look.. very simple!

the other thing that made me feel better about take it apart is that www.cnn.cn got pretty much every part there is in a BB tour..

Good look

I rather use ebay... just because I don't trust giving my credit card info to a Chinese website...

That's just me... this could be as you said, the best site to shop for BB parts...

I finally got brave enough to void my Tour's warranty...

I got a blue ball from eBay for the 8800/8300 berries and decided to perform surgery to my Tour...

Guess what? the new trackball responds as it should! it is wonderful! I set my secitivity back to 70 on both horizontal and vertical.

I'm really glad I did this because now I am 100% happy with my Tour...

To take the phone apart is simple, all you have to do is to be careful not to break any clips.

Here is now my Tour looks like now  Grin Grin Grin

My TB isnt horrible, but could definitely be better. I must do this. Are there other colors of trackballs? Like for the love of all things, tell me a red one exsists?! That would look incredible with the red numbers/end key/ speaker phone key.

That thrills me in a way I cant explain. Not only will it look great, I would love the trackball improvement. And being able to bump it back down to 70. Im gonna do it, Im just gonna be a little nervous to break something, even with the video showing me what to do.

Before I order, someone please check this and confirm that it will work with my Tour, I just need to make sure. Ryu, Id prefer your input.

the link is

It says their TB's are compatable with

Curve 8300, 8310, 8320, 8330
Pearl 8100, 8110, 8120, 8130
8800 Series 8800, 8820, 8830

So does this mean it will work for the Tour as well? If not, can you link me to wherever I can get a red one that will fit. Sorry not trying to make homework for you, just want help from someone who knows what they are doing. I guess I need one of those 6 point screwdrivers too.

Ok Im super impatient, hope this is the right thing haha. I was gonna go with a red trackball. Then on the site I provided, I realized you can get color rings too. So I went with a red ring, and blue trackball for some nice color contrast.

I also ordered a Kobalt 8 in 1 screwdriver thing, that includes a t-6 bit. So Im definitely set there.

*EDIT* Hey Ryu, does the new trackball recede into the blackberry less?

Hey Hock, the trackball you mentioned will fit the Tour... but I got it much, much cheaper on ebay...

I think the ball sticks out a bit more, but that could be my imagination since now the blue ball pops out (visually) more than before...

I think I will also buy an OEM trackball from the 8300/8800 to give my Tour a BB Bold look...

Me and eBay aren't talking, we havnt been cool for a while, I owe Mr. eBay a little bit of money that I refuse to pay back, long story haha.

I'm glad to hear everything will fit. And I hope the trackball protrudes out a little more. I think it would feel more comfortable navigating. Later I might buy a purple ball too.

So how often generally, does a trackball need to be cleaned or changed out?

I never end with the questions haha. I'm super horny to get my new, more attractive, more functional trackball/ring. Yes, I used the word horny. This upgrade, and my upcoming extended battery purchase will make this phone my new girlfriend. I will lay it down each night, gently put my usb charging cord into it, and feel its warmth as it slowly, steadily, charges...more, and more...and............I need a smoke.

There is not definite answer as to when they have to be changed. It all depends, I have a friend that carries his BB Bold in his pocket and for almost 2 years the ball is still good. Another had to change it a little less than a year because dirt and dust buildup got in there and stopped responding... so it depends, when it stops working right, its time for a clean up/change!

Just careful buying aftermarket trackballs, some are good, but you may find some that may not roll right or may not have a nice grip against your finger. I also ordered a OEM clear/white trackball for my Tour to make it look like a baby Bold...

I'll post pictures when I get it and install it.

Cool man, that all make sense. I'm sort of hoping that because I paid a higher price, my trackball will be of good quality. I knows that's not always the case, but we will see. Either way the red ring should be fine, and I will now have the needed tool for the job. I don't know why, but even as a male I think I'd like to see a pink trackball on the tour, or purp.

I'm looking forward to seeing the baby bold too!
