I got my Tour 8/22, and its a July 17th manufactured Tour (one of the first ones), and still no problems. No trackpad problems specfically. Love the Tour, still anxious for the Essex though. Slightly interested in WiFi, but cant wait to have a trackpad. (Yes I know they can be problematic as well, still Id like a TP better)
I hear you... if sprint will offer the storm 2 in the future, I'm willing to forget about the trackball/trackpad and go full touch screen!
And I think RIM learned their lesson with all the glitches and crap OS of the first Storm. I would love to try it, but I dont know how I feel about ALL touchscreen. I wish they could make the storm 2 the way it is designed now, with a slideout keyboard as well. Id be on that in a heartbeat, even paying full retail. I just cant ever see myself typing as fast on a touchscreen, even a great one, as I can with a physical keyboard.
