I was browsing through the forums on Crackberry.com and I stopped and read a topic talking about new Alltel PRL's. I DID NOT know what they were talking about and then I googled it and found out that it updates your roaming towers. Anyway, I wanted to check mines b/c the updated PRL for the Tour w/Alltel is 40047. So I checked mines by dialing #4357* and all this info including my phone number and PIN number was listed. I scrolled down until I saw PRL: and mine's said 31002. My question(s) are: Is the reason why i'm roaming in my coverage area is b/c my PRL is not updated and if I do update the PRL, will my excessive, unesscessary roaming come to an end? Or do I need to take it to Alltel (I'm taking it there anyway b/c of my stuck trackball problem!),tell them about my discovery and let them update it for me?

Updating the PRL updates the available towers in your area... but if you are in a covered area, you shouldnt be roaming and even less getting charged for roaming... a not updated PRL should not be the reason for roaming...

Call tech support and let them know that you need to update the PRL, if there is one higher in your area, then they could give you instructions how to do it over the phone.
