Yes, the Tour will be capable of the upgrade. Still just waiting on the release. Should be nearing...rumor is late summer/early fall.

When an OS upgrade is done in a berry. is it similar to a WinMo device in the sense of all customization, order of icons in home page, ringtones, etc will be lost and have to re-do after the update? or is it seamless?

Incremental upgrades (ie 4.7.1.xx to 4.7.1.yy) are seamless for the most part unless something gets lost and if that happens you can restore the database backup you made  (you did make one right? ;-) ).

From what I remember of upgrading from 4.2 and 4.3 to 4.5 yes your customizations are lost but you should not loose any files (i.e. your ring tones may be reset to new defaults but the files should be there) but I would save those to your memory card just in case  . . . Themes may not be compatible.

Also FYI Wireless update takes up a LOT of memory in your device. When I did it on my spare Storm I had to remove most of my third party apps before it had enough memory to do it. The Tour has twice as much memory as the Storm so this may not be an issue but just FYI.
